|I am a Community Health Worker for South Jersey AIDS Alliance.|
|Thank you to all of my generous friends and colleagues who have donated to the New Jersey AIDS Walk benefiting South Jersey AIDS Alliance! I have reached my goal, but you can still help...|
For over thirty years, South Jersey AIDS Alliance has been helping southern New Jersey persons living with HIV and AIDS... and lots of others as well! As a Community Health Worker, working with our clients has been a gratifying and humbling experience. I know firsthand how HIV, poverty, and substance abuse affects our local community. The work we do offers people living with HIV and AIDS the opportunity to connect to case managers who assist them with medical appointments, health insurance issues, and access to funding, as well as offering them useful interventions and access to other social services. In Atlantic City, the Syringe Access Program has helped reduce injection-related HIV transmission to record lows, as well as lessening the risk of Hepatitis C in our clients and the local and extended community. Clients also have access to risk reduction education and substance abuse treatment referrals. At Oasis on Tennessee Avenue, clients are offered morning snacks and coffee, toiletry and personal care items, linkage to needed services, on-staff nurse, and telephone, fax, and mail services. And of course, we offer free, rapid HIV testing. We do good work and will continue as long as we are able.
Your donation goes directly to our organization and allows us to continue offering these much needed services to our clients. Now more than ever, in our current political climate, your help is needed.
